Open Doors Day

All parents are welcome to attend our Open Doors Day on Thursday 9th September from 3.15 till 4.15 p.m.
Staff will be available to explain the curriculum and resources used in class.

Health Month

September is Friendship and Anti-bullying Month in our Health Calendar.
You can help your child by:
- Explaining the importance of being a good friend.
- How they can help to welcome new pupils expecially the Primary 1 children to the School.
- If they see someone upset, how they could help to make that person feel better.

Rag Bag Collection
|
|
|
The school will be collecting 'Rag Bags' this month. As always this is a great fundraiser which gives you the chance to clear out all those unwanted textiles, including all types of clothing, shoes, bags, hats, belts, towels, curtains and bed linen.
You can drop the filled bags off any time between now and 9.00 a.m. on Monday 6th September. Extra bags are available from the school office.

Summer holidays
|

The school will stop for the summer at 1.00 p.m. on Tuesday 29th June.
There will be an In-Service day for teachers on Monday 16th August and the school will re-open for pupils on Tuesday 17th August at 9.00 a.m.
Till then, we hope everyone enjoys their summer break!

Second Green Flag!
|
|
|
Kirklandneuk Primary has just received its second Green Flag!
Mrs Gray and her Eco-team have led the school to improve our environment through reducing litter and reducing energy and water use. They have promoted a healthy lifestyle through active citizenship and efficient ways of travelling to school and built partnerships with a variety of community groups. Well done to everyone involved!
Look out for a second flagpole in the school grounds!

Engage for Education: a new, direct conversation between the Scottish Government and parents, young people, school staff and the wider education community has been set up online.
You are invited to give your views and suggestions about how everyone can work together to make Scottish education even better.

On Thursday 24th June the finals of the school talent show, run by Primary 5, will take place - so get practising for the big day!

Get advice from Cancer Research UK and Sunsmart on protecting young skin from sun damage.
Weather permitting, Sports Day will be on Tuesday 22nd June at 1.00pm in the School grounds. All family and friends are welcome.

There will be two In-service days for teachers on Thursday 27th May and Friday 28th May.

Kirklandneuk Primary School Drama Club will be presenting Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat on Wednesday 2nd and Thursday 3rd of June at 7.00pm in the School Hall.
Tickets are selling very fast and are available from the School Office for a few more days.

Uniform orders should be returned to the school by 12th May and not June as stated in the original letter.

Easter Assembly

All parents and friends are invited to our Easter Assembly in Trinity Church Renfrew at 10.00am on Thursday 1st April.
The school will close at 2.30pm on Thursday 1st April and re-open for pupils on Tuesday 20th April at 9.00am. Monday 19th April is an in-service day for teachers.

Tesco Vouchers

We are saving Tesco vouchers so please, if you have any spare vouchers, we would really appreciate it if you could send them into school.

March is Environment Month
|
|
|
This month we are trying to save our environment. We are trying to remember to recycle both at home and at school..
Everything from saving electricity to using paper bags or containers rather than plastic bags.
Bring water bottles rather than buy new ones.
Walk or cycle to school, rather than come by car.
Find out about some games on the environment.

Junior Savers' Initiative
|
|
|
Monday 1st of March is our first collection day for the Junior Savers' Initiative. School staff and parent helpers have received their training and will oversee Miss McCurdy's maths setting groups, 'The Kirky Credit Crunchers', who will be our bank tellers each week.
Only a minimum of 50p is needed to open an account and then no amount is too small to pay in. Cheques may only be paid in if made payable to 'Renfrewshire-wide Credit Union'.
Collections will take place every Monday morning in term time only.

Come As You Please Day
|
|
|
There will be a "Come As You Please" Day on Friday 12th February in aid of the Haiti Disaster Fund. Pupils may come to school in their own clothes for a suggested donation of £1.
